World Stroke Day 2024

The Colorado Stroke Advisory Board is determined to improve stroke care in the state, and is pleased to support stroke awareness efforts especially on World Stroke Day, October 29th. We know that Coloradans can be #greaterthanstroke.

Remember, time lost is brain lost! It is very important to get anyone experiencing a stroke emergency care as soon as possible.  Learn more how to recognize a stroke here.

90% of strokes can be prevented with a healthy lifestyle. The theme for World Stroke Day this year is a call to action – and to leverage the emotional power of sport to raise awareness about stroke, and encourage action on stroke prevention and rehabilitation. Just 30 minutes of moderate physical activity each day can go a long way to prevent stroke – and it doesn’t all have to be at once!  This can include walking around your neighborhood, or around your office building during your breaks. Or perhaps engaging in a friendly round of soccer or basketball with family and/or friends at a local park some evenings. Many mobile Augmented Reality (AR) games also have activity trackers built in with certain in-game incentives if you walk a certain amount each day. For those who want to take this a little further, we encourage you to check out the #greaterthan challenge at the World Stroke Day website to be involved with your community.
